Titanium

Titanium is a chemical element with the symbol Ti and atomic number is 22. It is a transition metal with a silver color, low density. Titanium is resistant to corrosion in sea water. Titanium was discovered by William Gregor in 1791. The element occurs in a mineral deposits, mainly rutile and ilmenite.it is found in almost all living things, water bodies, rocks, and soils. The most common compound, titanium dioxide, is a popular photocatalyst and is used in the manufacture of white pigments. Other compounds include (TiCl4),(TiCl3). Titanium can be alloyed with iron, aluminium, vanadium, and molybdenum, among other elements, to produce strong, lightweight alloys for aerospace, dental and endodontic instruments and files, dental implants, sporting goods, jewelry, mobile phones, and other applications. Titanium readily reacts with oxygen at 1,200 °C  in air, and at 610 °C in pure oxygen, forming titanium dioxide.
Titanium is one of the few elements that burns in pure nitrogen gas, reacting at 800 °C to form titanium nitride.
